Basically, the "safe mode" to start the operating system with a minimum of functions to correct any problems preventing proper operation.

It is very easy to reactivate the safe mode of Windows 10 ... when you know how.
It is very convenient in case of infection, for example, since it prevents malware from launching. Same thing when a machine will not start because of a hardware problem.
Launch Diagnostic Tool
Microsoft ignores this mode working Windows 8 and Windows 8.1.
The firm actually preferred design a more comprehensive tool and can quickly solve most problems by a computer.
There are two ways to start:
- If you still have control of your system: Start your machine. Hold down the "SHIFT" to the left on the keyboard and click on the heels of the "Stop" and "Restart".
- If you no longer have control of your computer: Turn off. Wait a few seconds. Turn on by repeatedly pressing "SHIFT" + "F8". Remember to cross your fingers. Those of the other hand.
If you're lucky, then a blue screen will appear with five different buttons.
The first will allow you to exit the wizard as if nothing had happened, and start your Windows 8, your Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
The second goes a bit further as it will help you fix your computer by pressing a device connected via USB or even on a CD / DVD resettlement. If your bike is fully planted, and want to reset it, this is the option for you.
Less than go through the third button, which goes even further and that includes within it a number of useful options. Thanks to them, you can reinstall the system, do a "reset", start a restore, repair startup, access options UEFI or even execute commands of your choice through the terminal.
Finally, with the last button, you can turn off your computer.
If you installed Windows 10 Technical Preview, you'll find this option menu to return to the old build, and therefore Windows 8.1. The process is completely transparent and does not jeopardize your data.
I also had the opportunity to test it on my Q704 if you want to know everything.

The Windows diagnostic tool 10. Very complete.
Reactivate the "safe mode"
This tool is great, but it may not be to your liking. The good news is that you do not have to use it and you may well reactivate the "safe mode" if you feel like it.
Be careful though because you have to put your hands dirty to carry out the operation. The reactivation of this mode can only be achieved by control lines. Rest assured, however, because you do not need to master the subject to get away.
Begin by starting your machine. Then press the "Windows" key and "X" to open the context menu of the 'start' button. If you feel like it, you can also take your mouse, place their cursor over the button and right-click in stride.
The result will be exactly the same.
Then go look for the "Command Prompt (admin)" in the menu. The console appears a few seconds later.Simply type the following command, and confirm by pressing the "Enter" key:
bcdedit / set {default} bootmenupolicy legacy
When done, the terminal indicates that the command was successful. To be sure, restart your machine and quickly press the "F8" key on the keyboard. The "Advanced Boot Options" should appear on the screen, with all the usual options.
Including Safe Mode.
If you want to restore the original configuration of the system, simply type the following command in the command prompt:
bcdedit / set {default} standard bootmenupolicy
